Homoeopathy is a holistic treatment – it approaches the person as a whole on a mental, emotional and physical level and we see patients of all age groups for all types of problems.
Homoeopaths describe their practice as using minute doses of substances (known as remedies) which, if taken by a healthy person, may cause symptoms – by using these remedies on patients already experiencing similar symptoms they hope to bring about change. Homoeopathy is an alternative form of medicine that has been used for over 200 years, and therefore works on the principle of treating ‘like with like’.
If you are unsure if homoeopathy is suitable for you, please contact us and we can arrange for our homoeopath Catherine to call you and discuss your individual needs.
Catherine Helps RSHom M.LSCH is our principal homoeopath who trained at The London School of Classical Homoeopathy. She is registered with the Society of Homoeopaths and works closely with local GP practices and other practitioners both in the clinic and elsewhere. She has extensive experience in giving talks on Homoeopathy to a variety of audiences.
With over 16 year’s experience in homoeopathy, Catherine is confident in treating patients whatever their age or problem. She is an accomplished practitioner with an unfaltering dedication to her clients. If you are unsure as to whether homoeopathy may be helpful for you or if you have a general query, please feel free to use our contact form and we can arrange for Catherine to call you (please be aware this may not be on the same day as it is dependent on her other commitments)
It is not possible to list here the types of ailments or troubles that may or may not be helped with homoeopathy because the possibilities are vast and space limited. In general the therapy is suitable for most people, whatever their gender, age or past medical history. Many patients have been helped with problems they have coped with for many years but as your health is paramount, we encourage you to talk with Catherine if you wish. Alternatively appointments are often available by simply calling our Reception team on the numbers displayed elsewhere on this page.
Homoeopathy in pregnancy and childbirth:
Homoeopathy is ideal for women in their child-bearing years as it is a gentle system of alternative medicine and homoeopathic remedies use only a minute amount of the active ingredient in their preparation.
We believe that symptoms of ill health are expressions of disharmony within the whole person and that it is the person who needs treatment not the disease alone. Homoeopathy is not a replacement for medical treatment.
Some homoeopaths believe that homoeopathic treatment may benefit a pregnant woman, and so indirectly, her baby. By being as healthy as possible during pregnancy you are giving your baby the ideal conditions in which to thrive. Some homoeopaths may also advise you on diet and lifestyle to encourage a healthy pregnancy and birth.
Homoeopathy is sometimes used by the pregnant mother during childbirth and our homeopath strongly suggests you talk with your midwife about the use of homoeopathic remedies in your labour as it is essential for them to be involved in what you are planning to do. We have a lot of experience working with pregnant ladies and regularly loan out full homoeopathic kits (see below).
We advise against using over the counter remedies as often these are in limited dosages and strengths and especially in pregnancy these need to be prescribed by an experienced and qualified homoeopath once a full history has been obtained.
We can loan you a birthing kit free of charge (subject to a deposit) as long as you attend for an initial consultation with your birth partner so that safety issues can be dealt with and also so that the homoeopath can fully explain the kits and answer any questions you may have.
After the birth some homoeopaths use remedies for yourself and your baby. The birthing kit contains all the necessary remedies and full instructions, the kit is yours to use for one month after childbirth, where you will normally visit the homoeopath again to identify any ongoing issues, although our homoeopath remains only a telephone call away.
You will need to consult a homoeopath if you want homoeopathic treatment for your baby.
