How do I know if I have a verruca?
The classic look is a rough, cauliflower-like patch, sometimes with tiny black dots. They vary in size and number, and can form a cluster of many small verrucae.
A simple check many people use: gently pinch the skin (as you would a spot). Verrucae often hurt when pinched. Corns more often hurt when pressed. This is a guide only — a podiatrist can confirm what you have.
Do I need treatment?
In many cases the immune system clears the virus over months. Leaving a painless verruca alone is often the safest approach.
Consider professional assessment if it is painful on weight-bearing, spreading, unsightly in a way that bothers you, or not settling. Never self-treat if you have diabetes, poor circulation, are pregnant, or have another condition that affects foot health — speak to a podiatrist or your pharmacist first.

How pricing works
- Swift and laser — the fee includes the visit. You do not pay the usual £60/£55 appointment on top.
- Verrutop and cryotherapy — £13 on top of the podiatry appointment (new patient £60, or follow-up / routine £55). The £13 is not the whole cost of the visit.
Cryotherapy (£13 + appointment)
Freezing the verruca with a liquid cryogen (Cryospray 59 / Cryogen). Often considered when there are one or two solitary verrucae, or verrucae on the toes.
Treatment fee: £13 on top of your podiatry appointment (£60 new patient or £55 follow-up / routine).
Verrutop (£13 + appointment)
Verrutop is a clinician-applied acid treatment. It is not the same as shop-bought wart gels, which can damage surrounding skin if misused. It is painted onto the verruca in clinic.
Treatment fee: £13 on top of your podiatry appointment (£60 new patient or £55 follow-up / routine).

Swift microwave therapy (£130 all-in)
Swift uses microwave energy aimed at the verruca. It is often considered for stubborn verrucae. It is not usually suitable if you have diabetes, poor circulation, or an implanted electronic device. We check this at your assessment.
Fee: £130 all-in — this includes the visit. You do not pay the usual £60/£55 appointment on top.
Podylas S30 laser (£120 all-in)
Our Podylas S30 laser can be used for suitable verrucae (it is also used in clinic for fungal nails and some pain presentations). Suitability depends on assessment.

Aftercare
Aftercare depends on the treatment. You may be asked to keep the area clean and dry for a short period, avoid picking, and return for review. We give advice before you leave. Call 01737 762990 if you are worried about pain, spreading redness, or discharge after treatment.
Children’s verrucae

Why is Verrutop or cryotherapy only £13?
That is the treatment add-on. You also pay for the podiatry appointment (£60 new patient or £55 follow-up / routine). So a visit with Verrutop or cryotherapy is the appointment fee plus £13.
